Steph Curry comes to defense of Andre Iguodala

Andre Iguodala

Andre Iguodala has faced criticism from fans and now his teammates for refusing to play for the Memphis Grizzlies, and it is hardly a surprise that Stephen Curry has his back.

The Golden State Warriors traded Iguodala to the Grizzlies over the summer in a salary cap-saving move, and Iguodala has been seeking a trade or buyout since he landed in Memphis. A report on Monday claimed he is prepared to sit out the entire season if he is not traded to a previously approved team, which led to the 36-year-old being called out by teammates. Curry, Iguodala’s former teammate, came to the swingman’s defense with a post on Instagram.

Obviously, Iguodala’s former Warriors teammates and his current Grizzlies teammates have much different opinions of him, and deservedly so. Iguodala helped Golden State win three championships and was named NBA Finals MVP in 2015. However, he has essentially told the Grizzlies and their players that he is too good for them, which is why he is refusing to play.

Dillon Brooks had some harsh words for Iguodala following the Grizzlies’ win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. That is unlikely to change Iguodala’s opinion of the situation, but Memphis is supposedly not going to buy him out if they can’t find a trade partner by Thursday. The situation could get even uglier once the deadline passes.
