Andre Iguodala has already missed nearly two-thirds of the current season, and that absence could go on even longer.
Iguodala was traded by the Golden State Warriors to the Memphis Grizzlies over the summer so that Golden State could create salary cap space to add D’Angelo Russell and retain Klay Thompson. Iguodala has not reported to Memphis and apparently is prepared to sit out the entire season.
The Athletic’s David Aldridge reported on Monday that Iguodala will sit out the season if he is not traded to a previously approved team.
Iguodala and Memphis mutually agreed he would not report to the Grizzlies while the team tried to find a trade partner. The 36-year-old has yet to play after being traded by Golden State to the Grizzlies last summer.

This makes sense, considering a report earlier in the day said Memphis was adamant that it would not buy out the veteran.
It seems clear that the Grizzlies are trying to do everything possible to create a trade market where perhaps one does not exist. This seems to be their way of telling teams to step up with a trade offer or risk not getting Iguodala. The 36-year-old doesn’t seem like he would mind if he doesn’t play this season.
