The hype has already begun for the 2027 NBA Three-Point Contest.
After Damian Lillard won the 2026 NBA Three Point Contest, the Golden State Warriors star Curry said that he plans to join the field in the 2027 edition of the event.
Meanwhile, Lillard revealed a message he sent to the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player in which he said, “Next year…. Me, you, Klay, book, and 4 more real shooters.”
Curry then doubled down on his plan, replying, “Yessir, I’m in. Know Klay will do it if I ask and book will be at home. Perfect setup.” (A screenshot of the conversation can be viewed here.)
Lillard joined Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as the only players ever to bag the 3-point crown thrice, and he could create his own club by becoming the first in history to top it four times.
Having Curry, Klay Thompson and Devin Booker in the field should make it harder for Lillard to win it in 2027. At the same time, winning the competition against those names will further legitimize Lillard’s Three-Point Contest legacy.
Curry has won the event twice, while Thompson and Booker each ruled it once.
Maybe it’s time for the NBA to make the Three-Point Contest the main skills event in the All-Star Weekend.
