Steve Kerr was never nervous about Steph Curry finding his stroke

Steve Kerr

Steph Curry was the target of criticism after struggling in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, but Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says he never lost faith in his star.

Curry made just 2-of-13 3-point attempts in the first two games of the series with Houston. He shot just 7-for-19 in a Game 2 loss and was also targeted defensively. But Curry got hot in Game 3, making 56.5 percent of his shots for 35 points. With him breaking out, Kerr was asked whether he was nervous about whether his star would come around.

“Not really, honestly,” Kerr said after Game 3. “We’ve seen this so many times with Steph. All it takes is one. I thought he was pressing a little bit early. I was never concerned. This guy’s a two-time MVP and he bounces back from bad games as well as anybody I’ve seen, so it didn’t surprise me.”

It shouldn’t surprise anyone. Curry may have a bad game here or there, but over the course of a seven game series, the smart money says he will shine. He didn’t win consecutive MVPs for no reason. It’s almost silly to even ask Kerr whether he started to question Curry.
