Steve Nash got trash-talked by rap legend after Nets’ latest loss

Steve Nash

Steve Nash’s Brooklyn Nets have lost their last six games in a row, and one famous hip-hop star rubbed some salt in the wound after the latest one.

Brooklyn fell to the Kings in Sacramento on Wednesday, losing by a 112-101 final. After the game, Nash’s press conference got delayed by a few seconds because rap legend Coolio was trash-talking him outside the media room.

“Every time I perform, the home team wins! 10 in a row!” Coolio told Nash, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

The Grammy-winning rapper, who is best known for the hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” and for doing the theme song to Nickelodeon’s “Kenan and Kel,” performed at halftime of the Kings-Nets game.

Hilariously enough, Coolio’s claim about the home team winning every time he performs was fact-checked by Reddit user “iksnet” on Thursday. During Coolio’s last ten live performances at NBA games (dating back to 2014), the home team is 7-3, the user found. The Kings’ win over the Nets did manage to extend Coolio’s streak to three games in a row however. You can read the funny Reddit post here.

The Nets usually have famous rappers on their side. On Wednesday though, they took an L from Coolio on top of the L that they took from the Kings.
