First fan caught trying to violate rules of ‘The Wall’ at Clippers game

One Phoenix Suns fan on Wednesday tried and failed to infiltrate the Los Angeles Clippers’ new fan wall at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.

The Clippers’ new $2 billion facility has a steep 51-row fan section called “The Wall.” The section is located behind the basket where visiting teams will shoot during the second half of games.

One big rule at The Wall is that it is exclusively for Clippers fans. Before buying tickets to sit at The Wall, fans are required to answer a survey that proves their fandom. Potential buyers are also made to agree to The Wall’s protocols, which include not being allowed to support the Clippers’ opponents in any way.

One fan named Chris reportedly tried to break that rule during the Clippers’ 116-113 loss against the Phoenix Suns. According to The Athletic’s Fred Katz, Chris snuck in a Kevin Durant jersey underneath a tray as he entered the section. Once he was in, Chris put on the Durant jersey over his black tank top.

Intuit Dome staff spotted Chris “within moments” after he wore the purple Durant jersey. Arena customer service gave Chris two options: move to a different section free of charge or remove the Durant jersey and return to The Wall. Chris chose neither and reportedly left the arena, becoming the first in Intuit Dome history to do so after violating The Wall’s policies.

The Wall may be doing more than just keeping opposing fans out. Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker admitted Wednesday that the Clippers’ Wall may have cost the Suns a few points.
