Suns likely to trade for Hornets star?
The 2024 NBA trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and rumors have been swirling. One such rumor has centered around Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges, who could soon be on his way to Phoenix.
In recent days, there has been significant smoke surrounding Bridges and the Suns. But Phoenix isn’t alone in that hunt, with the Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons also making calls about Bridges’ potential availability.
But as time winds down, it’s beginning to appear as if Bridges will be headed down to the desert.
Gerald Bourguet of PHNX reports the Suns are “feeling very confident” that they can get a deal done despite some hurdles remaining. Among the hurdles would be a decision from Bridges, who would have to waive his no-trade clause in order to be dealt.
There’s also concern over Bridges’ recent arrest.
Bridges will become a free agent after the season, and it’s far from certain that he would re-sign with the Hornets. And thanks, in part, to their newfound financial flexibility, the door has been opened for a trade, allowing Charlotte to potentially get something back for a player they could end up losing anyway.
In 32 games this season, Bridges is averaging 20.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 45.9% from the field.
