Report: Two top contenders trying to trade for Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder definitely fumbled the bag with his free agency this past offseason, but it could end up landing him on a title contender.

Matt Moore of The Action Network reported Sunday that the Boston Celtics currently have two trade offers on the table for Schroder — one from the Milwaukee Bucks and one from the Chicago Bulls.

With the Feb. 10 deadline nearing, Schroder is a very interesting trade candidate. He botched his free agency last summer and was only able to land a one-year deal from the Celtics. But that now gives Schroder trade appeal as an expiring contract. He is also averaging 14.3 points and 4.4 assists per game this season.

The Bucks are the defending champions but lack point guard depth behind Jrue Holiday. The Bulls, meanwhile, are the top team in the East right now but are weathering extended absences from Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso.

Schroder, a former Sixth Man of the Year finalist, could foreseeably fit in a number of different roles. There have also been some signs of dysfunction in Boston this season, so the first-year Celtic Schroder might welcome a move.
