New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown is wary of the Philadelphia 76ers, and his concern about the Eastern Conference team has seemingly intensified following the loss to the new-look Sixers in a preseason game on Monday.
Brown also talked to reporters and voiced his opinion on the Philadelphia, which made some of the biggest moves in the NBA offseason.
“They’re definitely going to be one of the teams contending in the East,” the 63-year-old Brown told reporters before the Knicks suffered a 120-97 preseason loss to Philadelphia at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pa., via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
In my opinion, it just got harder for everybody with the team they assembled there.”
Brown might just be trying to put more pressure on the 76ers and deflect attention from his team.
Over the summer, the Sixers stunned the basketball world by signing four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James and pulling off a trade with the Boston Celtics to acquire former NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown.
Still, Brown can’t talk his way out of the narrative that his Knicks have a big target on their backs, a consequence of the success they achieved last season.
The reigning NBA champs Knicks will open their 2026-27 season on Oct. 20 against the 76ers at Madison Square Garden.
