Despite the disaster film that he oversaw in Detroit, Troy Weaver may land a new NBA job in short order.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported on Saturday that the Washington Wizards are considered a possible landing spot for the former Pistons GM Weaver. Scotto notes that Weaver had previously worked with Washington executives Michael Winger and Will Dawkins in the Oklahoma City Thunder front office.

The 56-year-old Weaver spent the last four seasons as general manager of the Pistons but presided over a horrendous era in which the team never won more than 23 games in a season. The worst of it came this season as Detroit went a franchise-worst 14-68 (.171) with Weaver even getting heckled by fans during games.

Weaver was effectively fired by the Pistons earlier this month as they hired Trajan Langdon to be their new lead executive before offering Weaver a much-reduced role with their team (which he turned down). The Wizards, who were 15-67 this season, obviously aren’t looking much better right now. But with a front-office hierarchy already in place and multiple figures that Weaver is very well-acquainted with, they may be the right landing spot for him to rebuild his reputation again.
