If this was Dwight Howard’s way of proving he wasn’t scared of LeBron James and the big, bad Heat, it was a stupid idea. Before the Magic and Heat game in Orlando Thursday, Howard mocked two LeBron James pre-game traditions. The first was the baby powder toss which Howard mimicked using imaginary powder. The second was LeBron’s team photo, something James used to do with the Cavaliers. Here’s the video of both skits:
Much like the first meeting between the Cavs and Heat when the hate was abundant (see this and this), LeBron played his best when he felt challenged the most. James opened with 23 points of Miami’s 30 first quarter points, nailing his first 11 shots. LeBron finished with 51, giving him his 9th career 50-point game, and the high-scoring game in the NBA this season. The Magic did rally back from down 21 in the 4th quarter to tie the game, but the Heat prevailed.
Dwight learned the hard way not to place himself on LeBron’s hit list. Orlando GM Otis Smith already did that over the summer, and Dwight clinched things. Do not screw with LeBron.
