What are the Sacramento Kings doing?
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Kings are finalizing an extension with team vice president Vlade Divac, and also looking to hire a general manager to take that title from Divac.

Sources say Sacramento also close to adding a seasoned NBA executive to its front office; David Morway has emerged as the leading candidate.

Divac, says Stein, will be allowed to hire his own coach during the offseason with George Karl all but certain to be fired.
If this sounds weird, well, the Kings are weird. Divac was dragged into the ongoing feud between his star player and coach, and nearly fired the coach mid-season before an eleventh hour change of heart. This mess isn’t totally his fault. He was inexperienced in front office matters when the Kings hired him, and they basically threw him into the deep end immediately. Perhaps a new coach and a veteran front office executive will help stabilize things, but this all starts with ownership.
