Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has received her own Barbie Signature doll from Mattel, turning her long-time “Bayou Barbie” nickname into reality. The company announced the doll on Friday, just ahead of WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago.
The doll features Reese in a pink basketball uniform with her No. 5 jersey, headband, leg sleeve, and Reebok Angel Reese 1 sneakers in Barbie pink. It is available for $38 at Target stores and online at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Mattel Shop.
“Having my own Barbie doll is a true dream come true for me,” Reese said in a statement, via People. “I hope this doll reminds girls to be unapologetically themselves, embrace every part of who they are, and go after their dreams with confidence.”
Barbie is collaborating with Reebok on matching pink Angel Reese 1 shoes, set for release August 3.
“What I love most is that it doesn’t just look like me — it truly feels like me. My doll reflects both my love of basketball and fashion because I’ve always believed you never have to choose between being fierce on the court and expressing who you are off it,” Reese added.
The doll and sneakers debuted at TOGETHXR House during All-Star Weekend, where Reese, a co-owner of the women’s sports media company, helped create a limited apparel collection also available on her website.
