Witnesses said Garcia appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The incident was the second this week in which the Beverly Hills Police Department was called to the Waldorf Astoria for something involving Garcia. On Wednesday, police conducted a welfare check after one of Garcia’s family members expressed concern for the 25-year-old.
TMZ reports that Garcia acted out at the hotel following the Wednesday welfare check and was cut off from drinking.
Garcia’s attorney Darin Chavez confirmed on Saturday night that Garcia was taken into custody. Chavez said Garcia was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and “may be charged with public intoxication.”
Garcia beat Devin Haney in his last fight on April 20 but later tested positive for a banned substance. Some misleading information has since emerged about the positive drug test.
