Michael Jordan tasted sporting glory once again Sunday, but this time at the race track rather than the hardwood.
Tyler Reddick, who competes under Jordan’s 23XI Racing, won this year’s Daytona 500 after making a thrilling last-lap pass at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. After Reddick sealed the victory, Jordan was handing out high fives to anyone who would take one.

Jordan spoke about what the victory meant to him during a post-race interview. He shared that watching the Daytona 500 had been a cherished family tradition for him growing up in North Carolina.
“I can’t even believe it. It was so gratifying,” Jordan said. “We had four guys who were really fighting, helping each other out. You never know how these races are going to end. You just try to survive.”

Jordan gave a special shoutout to 23XI driver Riley Herbst, who crashed ahead of the finish line and took out a lot of Reddick’s competitors for first place. Jordan praised Herbst for being the ultimate team player and competing until the very end.
Reddick was outside the top five for 182 of the Daytona 500’s 200 laps. He never led Sunday’s race until the final lap, coming up clutch just like Jordan always did two decades ago.
