Watch: Auburn’s Bryce Brown says ‘NCAA needs new refs’
The controversial calls at the end of Saturday’s Final Four game between Auburn and Virginia had one of the Tigers’ players saying the organization needs new referees.
Auburn guard Bryce Brown was heard saying the “NCAA needs new refs” as he walked through the tunnel to the locker room following the Tigers’ 63-62 loss to Virginia in Minneapolis.

What had Brown so peeved? For starters, the refs missed a double-dribble by Virginia’s Ty Jerome that likely would have sealed the win for Auburn if called. On top of that, they called a foul on Samir Doughty with a second left at a time when many thought the officials should let the players play. The foul put Kyle Guy at the free throw line, and he made all three attempts to give Virginia the lead and the win.
Brown has every right to be upset with how the end of the game unfolded.
