If North Carolina is going to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, Brice Johnson will likely have a lot to do with it. Regardless of how the season ends for the Tar Heels, the senior put together a season that will see him remembered along with the greatest names in school history.
Johnson was named a First Team All-American by the United States Basketball Writers Association after averaging 16.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game this season. With that comes having your jersey honored in the rafters at the Dean Smith Center.
Head coach Roy Williams shared the news on Monday. Here’s Johnson reaction to finding out along with Williams talking about North Carolina’s latest All-American.

To have their jersey hung from the rafters a player must be a first or second team All-American, ACC Player of the Year, Most Outstanding Player of NCAA Final Four, or Most Valuable Player of a team that wins the NCAA Tournament. Johnson becomes the 51st player to be recognized above the floor.
Our next chance to see Brice Johnson in action will be Thursday, when No. 1 seeded North Carolina faces off against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Florida Gulf Coast and Fairleigh Dickinson.
