UConn head coach Dan Hurley spoke publicly about the video video of his postgame outburst following the Huskies’ loss to Florida in the NCAA Tournament.

In an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” Monday, Hurley admitted that his profane rant after the 77-75 loss was “embarrassing.” He also explained that he was only angry over one call that ultimately did not swing the outcome of the game.

“The Florida postgame, I regret that one greatly,” Hurley said. “There was one drive to the rim that I felt we clearly got fouled on that would have kept that game at a two-possession game. It was ringing in my mind, and it wasn’t multiple calls I felt were missed. It was just this one play that I could not get out of my mind as I was heading through that tunnel as I saw the Baylor players.

“I deeply regret that. We missed a lot of open shots, and credit Florida and (Walter Clayton Jr.). They’re championship level. That one, I regret deeply. I didn’t believe that. That was embarrassing.”

"It's not just me, it's our whole bench. We lead the country in warnings from officials to have everyone sit down. Everyone on my bench is out-of-pocket."

Hurley was caught on video telling members of Baylor’s team that the referees had “f—ed us” following the two-point loss (video here). UConn arguably made the situation worse by allegedly threatening the reporter who had captured the video after it went viral.

Hurley is a fiery personality and it is part of his program. Sometimes he goes too far, and this is an instance of that. He has made it clear, however, that he thinks some of the criticism is over-the-top, and definitely is not going to completely overhaul his personality.
