Houston fans were not pleased with a controversial no-call during Monday’s NCAA national championship game against Florida.
The Cougars led the Gators 31-25 with a minute left in an absolute slugfest of a first half inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Houston forward J’Wan Roberts took a two-point shot that danced around the rim.
The shot appeared to be on its way out of the cylinder. Before it completely fell off the iron, Florida center Micah Handlogten slapped the ball off the rim in what appeared to be an obvious goaltending call. Referees swallowed their whistle as play continued.

Was this a goaltend or no??

Potentially a huge 5-point swing.

Florida was able to capitalize on the no-call. Gators guard Will Richard drained a three-pointer to cut the lead in half in what was a five-point swing that went against the Cougars.
Houston supporters were understandably up in arms about the missed goaltending call. They made their frustrations known on social media.
5 point swing because the refs missed that goaltend! #NCAAChampionship pic.twitter.com/xculG5vnsO

Give me one good reason the refs cannot retroactively call that a goaltend in Florida and give Houston 2 points

Lol we review all this BS all year & miss that obvious play?

5-point swing on an obvious goaltend.
You cannot miss a goaltend as clear as that in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

College basketball referees can review goaltend calls if they are called on the floor. But given that no call was made, referees were unable to review the play despite pleas from the Houston bench.
After a first half where offense was hard to come by, it’s understandable why Houston fans were upset.
