Hubert Davis had emotional reaction to taking North Carolina to Final Four
The North Carolina Tar Heels became the fourth and final entrant to the Final Four on Sunday, and that provoked some emotion in coach Hubert Davis.
Davis, a North Carolina alum and first-year head coach, was tearful during his postgame interview with CBS. The coach admitted that he “desperately wanted this” for his players, and credited the team for accepting him despite his relative lack of experience.

The Tar Heels dominated Saint Peter’s essentially from start to finish in a 69-49 win. Though they came into the field as a No. 8 seed, they have looked like one of the best teams in the field consistently.
North Carolina’s win sets up a Final Four clash against Duke, which may turn into a grudge match. Davis will start thinking about that soon enough. For now, he’s clearly relishing the win.
