Randy Peterson, a beat writer for the Des Moines Register who covers Iowa State athletics, suffered a broken leg during the court storming following the Cyclones’ 83-82 victory over rival Iowa on Thursday night.
Peterson suffered the leg injury during a mad dash at Hilton Coliseum following the win. He was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Photos show him being carted away with his left leg in a cast:

At least Peterson had a good sense of humor about the matter. He tweeted the following:
Ouch

Iowa State came back from being down 20 to win the game. They took the lead on Monte Morris’ runner with nine seconds left.
And we thought what happened to Art Briles during a field storming was bad? That’s nothing compared to this. Get well soon, Mr. Peterson.
