Iowa suspends Fran McCaffery two games for outburst at officials
Iowa coach Fran McCaffery will be off the sideline for a couple games after a profane outburst at officials after Tuesday night’s defeat.
In a statement, Iowa athletic director Gary Barta announced a two-game suspension for McCaffery for “unsportsmanlike comments directed at an official.”

McCaffery was heard calling the referees “cheating” and a “disgrace” along with a hefty dose of profanity following Tuesday’s loss to Ohio State.
McCaffery has a temper, and he’s known to clash with referees. This, however, was beyond the bounds of his usual anger, and he can probably consider himself somewhat lucky that he escaped with only a two-game ban for it.
