Jarmal Reid ejected for tripping referee (Video)

Oregon State forward Jarmal Reid was ejected late in his team’s loss to Utah Sunday night after he appeared to intentionally trip an official.

As Sean Meagher of The Oregonian explained, Reid was apparently frustrated with a no-call in a tie game with 2:56 remaining. He clearly stuck his leg out as referee Tommy Nunez was running by, and Nunez immediately hit Reid with a Flagrant 2 and ejected him.

If that was an accident, Reid would have reacted accordingly. Instead, he tried to walk away and pretend nothing happened.

Utah closed out the game on a 7-1 run after Reid was ejected and came away with a 59-53 victory.

We’ve seen collegiate athletes get away with making contact with officials (one famous example here), but that trip was far too blatant. Reid deserved to get tossed and whatever other punishment the NCAA decides to hand down.
