Report: SEC basketball schedule contains interesting John Calipari wrinkle
The SEC basketball schedule for the 2024-25 season is a long way from being released, but it appears one interesting detail has already been decided regarding John Calipari.
Calipari’s Arkansas team will only face Kentucky once next season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. That game will take place at Rupp Arena in Lexington, with a date yet to be determined.

The SEC will have to accommodate 16 teams next season with the additions of Oklahoma and Texas, so teams will only play three opponents twice as part of the league schedule. Plus, the two schools only faced each other once last season, with Arkansas losing at home to Kentucky.
Calipari will probably wish he had the chance to welcome Kentucky to his new home. From a neutral perspective, however, the former Kentucky coach returning to Rupp Arena is probably the best possible outcome. Some former Wildcat players will be coming back with him, too.
Plenty of Kentucky fans were eager to be rid of Calipari, though he did win a national title at the school. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets.
