Watch: LSU nearly loses possession with silly ball roll mistake
The LSU Tigers did not look like they had it together late in their SEC Tournament opener against the Florida Gators.
The Tigers were down three with 24.1 seconds left in regulation against eighth-seeded Florida. As many teams do in that situation, the Tigers opted to let the inbound pass roll to conserve time for a final possession. One problem: Tremont Walters let it roll so long that he very nearly turned it over.

In this instance, the Tigers were actually saved by the possession arrow, which allowed them to retain possession and hit a game-tying three. However, the Gators responded with a three of their own from Andrew Nembhard just before time expired to give Florida the victory.
It’s worth noting that the Tigers are essentially operating without a coach right now. That may have played a role in their very sloppy late-game play and defeat.
