Michigan State’s Joshua Langford out for remainder of season

Michigan State

Michigan State guard Joshua Langford has been battling a foot injury for a good portion of the season, and that injury will not allow him to return this season.

The school announced Wednesday that Langford will miss the rest of the year, and will likely need surgery to correct the ongoing problem.

“It’s with great sadness that I have to announce that after numerous studies, rehabilitation and an attempt at return, it has been determined that Josh will miss the remainder of the season,” coach Tom Izzo said in a statement released by the school. “Josh has a stress injury that we caught fairly early and we had hoped that, with treatment and rest, he would recover. He has not, and will likely need surgery to prevent problems in the future.”

The Spartans are 18-3 and tied for first in the Big Ten despite the fact that Langford, perhaps their best pure shooter, hasn’t seen game action since Dec. 29. They may be able to cope without him, but Izzo is going to have to keep pushing some of his younger players hard to pick up the slack.
