Mike White, LaVall Jordan book Florida-Butler home-and-home via Twitter
Social media has allowed us to do a lot of things we couldn’t before, and that apparently includes booking home-and-home basketball games.
That’s what Butler coach LaVall Jordan and Florida coach Mike White did on Monday as a means to set up a home-and-home for the next two years between the Gators and the Bulldogs.
Hey @MikeWhiteUF, congrats on a great season. Dawgs are looking for a home-and-home. Gators interested?

Coach, I like it! Let’s get the Bulldogs down to Gainesville this season & the Gators can visit Hinkle in 2019-20. https://t.co/Q966KBi2Xi

Sounds good. Fire up the fax machine. I’ll have my guys draft it up and send it your way for signatures. https://t.co/icGD2n06Z7

To be clear, there was almost certainly some level of premeditation here, considering how quickly the replies came, plus the fact that a formal announcement came less than ten minutes after the exchange.
Florida and Butler will begin a home-and-home series next season in Gainesville, per release. Return game at Hinkle Fieldhouse in 19-20.

Still, even if this wasn’t 100 percent the product of Twitter, it was fun and amusing to see. We’ve seen coaches use social media hilariously before, but “negotiating” a home-and-home is definitely a new one.
