Tom Crean fired by Indiana
Tom Crean has been fired as the head coach of Indiana’s men’s basketball team after nine years with the program.
The school made the announcement almost immediately after the tip-off of the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

Crean took over at Indiana in 2008, and the Hoosiers went 6-25 in his first season. He had since led the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet 16 in three of those berths. Indiana went 15-3 in the Big Ten last year and knocked off Kentucky in the Round of 32. However, the Hoosiers finished 10th in the Big Ten this season and missed the Tournament for the first time in three years.
Indiana fans were frustrated with Crean this year, and that hostility led to Crean being heckled during a Big Ten Tournament game last week (video here). He finishes with a 166-135 record at the school.
