Video: Michigan-Wisconsin fight breaks out after Juwan Howard throws swing
A wild scene unfolded after the conclusion of Saturday’s game between Michigan and Wisconsin, and it all started when Juwan Howard was upset over something his counterpart did at the end of the game.
Howard was angry that Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard called a timeout with the Badgers leading 76-61 and 15 seconds remaining. Howard appeared to say something to Gard in the handshake line that Gard didn’t appreciate, which sparked an argument between the two coaches. The situation quickly escalated when Howard hit Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft in the head with an open hand.
Several players then began shoving one another and throwing swings. You can see the video below:

Major discipline will likely be forthcoming, especially for Howard. It would be a shock if he is not suspended for the swing he threw at Krabbenhoft.
Even if Gard broke some sort of unwritten rule by calling a late timeout with a 15-point lead, there are plenty of other ways Howard could have handled it. This is not the first time the Wolverines coach and former Fab Five member has lost his temper during a game. Howard was also ejected from a Big Ten Tournament game last year after he got into it with an opposing coach. You can see that video here.
