Report: Alabama to hire Butch Jones as offensive analyst
It sounds like the Butch Jones/Alabama report may turn out to be more than just rumor.
AL.com reported last week that Jones had met with Nick Saban to discuss a position with the Crimson Tide as an offensive analyst. The job is an off-field position.
The interview and talks must have gone well, because The Spun is now reporting that Jones is expected to be hired by Alabama, with the announcement to come during the week.
Jones, 50, was fired by Tennessee last season after starting off 4-6. He went 34-27 as head coach of the Vols. Prior to going to Knoxville, Jones had successful three-year stints at Central Michigan and Cincinnati.
Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian previously held the same position for Saban’s staff, so this could be a good stepping stone for Jones as he looks to rebuild his career.
