Big Ten fines Michigan State over pregame scuffle

Michigan State

The Michigan State Spartans have been assigned the bulk of the blame for Saturday’s pregame skirmish, at least in the eyes of the Big Ten.

The conference issued numerous reprimands for Saturday’s events, but it was Michigan State who was hit with a $10,000 fine for the pregame scuffle with Michigan. Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio was formally reprimanded for doing nothing to prevent the issue, while Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was reprimanded for his postgame comments. Michigan linebacker Devin Bush was the only played reprimanded, as he stomped on the Spartan logo after the incident.

Harbaugh will certainly feel vindicated, as it was found that his players had every right to be on the field when Michigan State’s players began their walk. As far as the Big Ten is concerned, the issue is settled, and both schools will probably want to just move on.
