Bri’onte Dunn was dismissed from Ohio State’s football program on Monday for a violation of team rules. Though Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer did not specify the violation, a report says Dunn was kicked off the team for allegedly beating up his girlfriend.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Dunn, 23, was involved in an altercation Sunday that led his girlfriend to call 911. She told the dispatcher that Dunn hit her “really bad.” She was crying during her phone call. She told 911 that she had been hit in the mouth by Dunn, who then left her apartment before returning and choking her.
Dunn’s girlfriend told 911 she had a bloody lip and black eye.
Dunn has not yet been charged with a crime, but his girlfriend did file for an order of protection against him.
Dunn graduated in the spring and was set to compete for the starting running back job. He carried the ball 14 times for 91 yards and a touchdown last season. This isn’t the first time he’s been involved in a legal matter. Back in 2012, he was pulled over with drugs in his car, but his mother took the rap for him.
