A University of Miami legend has decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Camdin Portis, the son of former Hurricanes running back Clinton Portis, announced on Sunday evening that he has committed to Miami for the 2026 class.

Camdin is a 6-foot, 165-pound junior defensive back at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C. He had offers from numerous other top programs including Florida, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee. The three-star prospect also has some experience playing wide receiver.

Camdin will have big shoes to fill at Miami. Clinton played for the Hurricanes from 1999-2001, rushing for 2,523 yards and 20 touchdowns in his three seasons there. Clinton was also the starting running back on Miami’s BCS national title team in 2001. He then enjoyed a very successful NFL career, making an All-Pro team, getting two Pro Bowl nods, and turning in six separate seasons of at least 1,250 yards rushing.

We have not heard much in recent years from Clinton, other than the legal trouble he got into a little while back. His son will now try to carry on the family legacy in Coral Gables.
