Charlie Strong wears golden cowboy hat, crowdsurfs after Texas win
Few head coaches needed a victory more than Texas’s Charlie Strong did on Saturday, and he got it with a 24-17 upset victory over tenth-ranked Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.
Strong now has a signature win to his credit as the Longhorns coach, and he celebrated it in style above and beyond the traditional Gatorade bath.

A golden cowboy hat, crowdsurfing on his team, and a huge win that should at least quiet the whispers around his job status for the foreseeable future? Yeah, Charlie Strong had a very good Saturday. It’s deserved, too, as we’re only a week removed from the Texas Rangers Twitter account calling for his ouster. It was only two weeks ago that he was seemingly goaded into taking a critical penalty in a loss to Oklahoma State. He’s entitled to a good Saturday.
