Chase Young has great explanation for skipping Combine workouts

Chase Young has opted to not take part in any workouts or drills at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, and the former Ohio State star had a very simple explanation for why he is going that route.

Young told reporters this week that he doesn’t want to “waste time trying to be a combine athlete” and would rather wait for the first day of training camp.

Of course, that is easy for the consensus best defensive player in the draft to say. Young would only risk injury by taking part in combine drills, as there’s little question he is going to be a top-three pick. It would very surprising if he did not go to the Washington Redskins at No. 2.

Young would have been fun to watch in combine drills, as he probably could have posted some insane numbers for a pass-rusher. However, while there are some players who can clearly benefit from participating in drills, Young’s stock can’t get any higher.
