The story of how Dabo and Kathleen got together is a great one. They have known each other since he was in second grade and she was in first because their older siblings dated. They began dating in middle school and went to a school dance togetherr:

Remember how we talked about Dabo’s ability to dance?
In an interview with ESPN he said he wouldn’t be able to get a wife like his if he couldn’t dance. He was actually talking more about how he likes to have fun rather than boasting about his actual dancing ability, but you get the idea.
Though Dabo broke up with Kathleen in middle school, they got back together in high school. They both went to Alabama and then Dabo proposed in 1993 when he was a grad assistant in the football program.
“He’s absolutely the same,” Kathleen says. “Just exactly the way you see him today is exactly how he was back then. It’s not like he was a shy kid and evolved into this new man. He was just outgoing and very competitive.”
