Dartmouth forgot to pack its kicking tee for a recent road game at Yale, so they were forced to improvise by carving up a water bottle.
According to USA Today, Dartmouth initially asked Yale to borrow a kicking tee and was loaned one. However, about 15 minutes prior to kickoff, Yale’s coach asked for the tee back, leaving The Big Green in a tough spot.
Kicker R.C. Willenbrock put his Ivy League brain to use and cut up a water bottle for a makeshift tee, and it worked. USA Today says kicker Riley Lyons averaged 60.0 yards per his seven kickoffs and had two touchbacks, which topped Yale’s kicker who averaged 59.3 yards per kickoff and had zero touchbacks.
And the best part? Dartmouth won 34-14. That’s karma for you.
