Diego Pavia did not make many friends on Saturday during Vanderbilt’s game against Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Pavia’s Commodores lost to the Crimson Tide 30-14 in a game that stayed close until the fourth quarter. Vanderbilt had a chance to take the lead with 1st-and-10 at Alabama’s 17 early in the final period. But Pavia threw a backbreaking interception that completely changed the complexion of the game.

Pavia talked some serious trash leading up to Saturday’s contest. The Commodores quarterback predicted that the game “won’t be close,” assuming his team stuck to its game plan. That game plan went up in smoke. Pavia wasn’t the only Vanderbilt player with some incendiary remarks before the game, either.
Alabama fans remembered all the chatter after the Crimson Tide’s win. One fan in particular got into a fiery exchange with Pavia as the Commodores made their way off the field.

Pavia finished the game with a 21/35 passing clip for 198 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
While Pavia was Tuscaloosa’s public enemy No. 1 on Saturday, he wasn’t the only hated quarterback at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Another unpopular figure also had a heated exchange with Alabama fans.
