Ed Orgeron thinks Leonard Fournette will play next week

Leonard Fournette has missed three straight games for LSU, but interim head coach Ed Orgeron thinks the Tigers’ star running back should be able to play next week.

Orgeron shared his thoughts on Fournette after LSU’s 45-10 win over Southern Miss on Saturday.

“We’re thinking he can, but I thought he could play two, three weeks ago. I’m not a doctor, that’s for sure, but I think he’s going to play,” Orgeron said when asked if Fournette will be able to play against Ole Miss. “(We’ll) see if he can practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m not going to push him. If he’s not ready, he’s not ready. But the feeling is that he’s going to be ready, but we’re not for sure yet.”

Fournette has been sidelined with an ankle injury. LSU has a huge three-game stretch coming up, which starts with a home contest against Ole Miss, followed by games with Alabama and Arkansas, so they’d love to have their stud available.

Due to his missed time, Fournette is second on the team in rushing yards behind Derrius Guice. Fournette did rush for over 100 yards in all three games he’s played, and he has two scores.
