Emmitt Smith’s son EJ gets scholarship offer from Florida

Emmitt Smith’s son EJ is still several years away from playing college football, but the dynamic running back sounds like he is going to have his pick of top programs when that day finally comes.

On Tuesday, Emmitt and EJ announced that the sophomore has received a scholarship offer from the University of Florida, which is where Emmitt became a household name and one of the best running backs in school history.

I am blessed to say that I have received an offer to go to the University of Florida. Thank you for the opportunity. @SkysTheLimitWR @EJHolland247 @DemetricDWarren @Jason_Howell @FloridaGators @CoachDanMullen pic.twitter.com/RDUKwxGSif

EJ’s mother, Pat, also shared a cool video of the youngster calling his father to deliver the big news:

EJ Smith is a member of the class of 2020, but he already has offers from Ohio State, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, SMU and Jackson State in addition to Florida. The Gators are considered the early favorite for obvious reasons, and a recent Bleacher Report feature revealed that Smith has a Gators bust on his nightstand in his bedroom at home.

Smith told Bleacher Report that Florida is the only school he has seen “behind the scenes” and that he is excited to take official visits to other campuses. The Dallas Jesuit star rushed for 1,301 yards and 26 touchdowns and caught 42 passes for 617 yards and six scores in his sophomore season, so you can understand why schools are so high on him.
