ESPN commentator criticized for Charlie Strong ‘noose’ comment
ESPN TV host Adnan Virk faced some backlash on Saturday for a poor choice of words when talking about Charlie Strong’s job status.
Texas lost to Kansas State 24-21 to drop to 3-4 on the season. The defeat has people questioning the job security of Strong, who is in the middle of his third consecutive losing season as head coach of the Longhorns.
When discussing the defeat, Virk said the noose around Strong’s neck was tightening.
"The noose is getting awfully tight around Charlie Strong's neck"

Talking about nooses tightening around a coach’s neck is another cliche to describe a coach in danger of being fired. But given the history and sensitivity regarding African-Americans and lynchings, a better choice of words would have been “his seat is getting even hotter.” Virk likely agrees.
As of now, Texas’ AD is not talking about Strong’s job status.
