Everett Golson seemingly denies LSU transfer rumor

Everett-Golson

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson started out hot in 2014 before falling behind sophomore Malik Zaire on the depth chart. Golson is set to graduate from Notre Dame in May, but could his college career continue next spring?

According to Jim Kleinpeter of The Times-Picayune, Golson has reached out to LSU about transferring for his final season of eligibility. If Golson graduates, he would be able to transfer and play immediately next season.

LSU is reportedly considering the transfer, though the school would need a waiver from the SEC since Golson was declared academically ineligible during the 2013 season. The SEC lifted its ban on allowing graduate transfers last May if the student has no significant disciplinary issues at his former school.

Shortly after the rumors surfaced, Golson sent the following tweet:

At one point, Golson looked like he had a chance to become one of the better quarterbacks in the country. He threw seven touchdowns and no interceptions during the first three games of the 2014 season before turnovers became an issue. Golson finished the season with 3,445 yards passing, 29 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and eight lost fumbles.

Zaire looked like a true dual-threat QB during Notre Dame’s win over LSU. He completed 12-of-15 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another 96 yards and a touchdown.
