Report: Florida State the favorite for Everett Golson

Everett-Golson

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson announced last week that he is transferring to play a post-graduate season. On Monday, we learned that he could wind up being Jameis Winston’s replacement.

According to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports, Florida State is currently seen as the “eventual destination” for Golson. The Seminoles are obviously looking for a quarterback now that Winston is in the NFL, and Golson would bring immediate experience to the position.

Several SEC teams — Alabama, Florida, and LSU — are also said to be interested in Golson, but there is a potential hurdle for Golson if he transfers to an SEC team. The SEC has a bylaw in place that can make it difficult for graduate transfers to be given scholarships if they have faced disciplinary action in the past, which Golson has.

In addition, Notre Dame has reportedly decided that it will not grant Golson’s release to a team that is on the Irish’s 2015 schedule.
