While preparing for his third season as Penn State football coach, it wouldn’t be particularly surprising to see head coach James Franklin tweet an inspirational message regarding the program. He did that on Thursday, but it did not come across as intended.
Franklin posted a graphic containing intangibles that would go a long way in helping one be successful such as energy, work ethic, being coachable, effort, and doing extra. I don’t think anyone would have a problem with either of those being included. However, “NO TALENT REQUIRED” appeared at the top.
The tweet has been deleted by Fraklin, but the graphic was saved by ESPN’s Josh Moyer, who shared it for all to see.

Well, JF deleted the tweet in question – and apparently blocked me for pointing it out.

As Moyer noted in a prior tweet, it’s understandable what Franklin was going for. However, the portion about not needing talent is peculiar and Moyer pointing it out apparently led to him being blocked by the Penn State coach. Moyer wasn’t the only media member to receive the treatment, though. Ben Jones of StateCollege.com and Audrey Snyder from DKPittsburghSports were blocked as well.
I got blocked too. Nobody is safe in these streets.

Same bud. Guess we can conclude they aren't practicing today. https://t.co/7UVlDUI49h

The curious wording on the graphic is one thing, but blocking reporters seems to be an even worse look. A strange series of events for sure from James Franklin.
