Jeff Fisher reportedly a potential head coaching candidate for Vanderbilt
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg was told by a source that Fisher would be a potential head coaching target for Vanderbilt if they decide to move on from Derek Mason. Mason is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Commodores, and the team is currently 2-5. The 50-year-old coach has yet to lead Vanderbilt to a winning season, so it would not be a surprise if a change is on the horizon.
Fisher was once regarded as one of the better coaches in the NFL when he had success with the Tennessee Titans, but his reputation took a hit when he was never able to lead the Rams to a winning season. They then brought in Sean McVay, who instantly turned things around.
There were rumblings earlier this year that Fisher was on the verge of accepting a job to coach in the XFL, but he quickly shot those down. Fisher is still popular in Nashville from his time with the Titans, so it could make sense for Vanderbilt to give him a look.
