Jets have reached out to Jim Mora
The New York Jets are narrowing their list of potential head coaching candidates in the wake of firing Rex Ryan. Is UCLA head coach Jim Mora on that list?
According to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News, the Jets have reached out to Mora’s camp to inquire about the buyout clause he has with his UCLA contract. While that doesn’t necessarily mean the Jets are going to interview Mora, it certainly indicates some level of interest.
Mora coached at the NFL level from 1985 to 2009. After a two-year hiatus to work as a television analyst, he took the head coaching job at UCLA. He is 28-11 in three seasons with the Bruins.
Mora’s most recent NFL head coaching gig was with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009. He was fired after just one 5-11 season. Prior to that, he coached Michael Vick for three years with the Atlanta Falcons from 2004 to 2006. Mora was 26-22 with the Falcons and reached the NFC Championship Game in 2004.
