Jim Mora may have hinted during his interview following UCLA’s 35-14 win over crosstown rival USC that quarterback Brett Hundley will be returning to the Bruins for his junior season.
Hundley, a redshirt sophomore, went 18-of-27 for 208 yards and rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s victory. There has been speculation that he could leave for the NFL draft after the season because he’s projected to be a top pick.
“We going to officially announce right now that you’re coming back?” Mora asked Hundley before giving him a friendly nudge.
“I can’t announce it yet,” Hundley answered with a smile.
Was Mora spoiling Hundley’s announcement, or was he trying to influence Hundley to make an impetuous decision during the great moment? I’m not sure, but I have a strong feeling Hundley will be back. He and his father seem like smart people, and they probably realize that the youngster could use another season in school to get ready for the NFL.
