Jimbo Fisher: I’m not leaving Florida State

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher took a moment to address speculation this week and assure Seminoles fans he is not going anywhere.

In an interview with “The Open Mike Show” on 96.9 The Game in Orlando Tuesday, Fisher confirmed that he has no interest in the Georgia coaching vacancy or any other job.

“You’re exactly right, I’m staying right here at Florida State,” he said, via The Orlando Sentinel. “There is no doubt I do (have one of the best jobs in America). This is a tremendous place. The Florida State people have been wonderful. This is a great place to live, a great place to coach; we’ve got great players, great tradition and great history. This is a tremendous job and a heckuva place. I love it here.

“All those other places (LSU, Georgia, etc.) are great, but this is just as good.”

Of course, Fisher had previously said he would not comment on the Les Miles situation with LSU out of respect. Is it a coincidence that he waited until LSU committed to Miles to emphatically state that he is not leaving Florida State? We’ll probably never know.
