Justin Fields: Ohio State takes rivalry ‘more seriously’ than Michigan

Justin Fields

Justin Fields thinks Ohio State has dominated its rivalry with Michigan lately because the players take it more seriously.

Fields’ Buckeyes beat the Wolverines 56-27 on Saturday for their eighth straight win in the series. The Wolverines have only won one game against Ohio State since 2004.

Fields said part of the reason for his belief that Ohio State takes it more seriously comes from speaking with a few Michigan players.

Michigan fans will no doubt hate hearing that in the middle of such an embarrassing losing streak. But excuse us for saying it, the person making the comment really is unqualified to make such a judgment.

Fields has only been at Ohio State since transferring in January. How would a guy who’s been around the situation less than a year really know whether that’s the case? He wouldn’t.

The biggest reason why Ohio State won on Saturday is because they have the better players, like Fields and Chase Young. If Fields hadn’t transferred there, or if he were on Michigan and Shea Patterson were on Ohio State, the Wolverines probably would have won. Fields being on Ohio State’s side in this one is the difference.

As for the previous years? Ohio State has had better coaches in Urban Meyer and Jim Tressel.
