Kirby Smart critical of Georgia discipline after win over Missouri

Kirby Smart

The Georgia Bulldogs won a tough road game at the Missouri Tigers 43-29, but coach Kirby Smart wasn’t entirely happy with things afterward.

Smart criticized his team for a lack of discipline during the win, urging them to be better going forward.

“We didn’t play with the discipline we need to play with, and I’m responsible for that,” Smart said, via Mitch Sherman of ESPN. “We’ll get it fixed.”

Smart cited multiple instances where his team’s play made him unhappy. The Bulldogs allowed a blocked field goal and committed seven penalties for 66 yards. What most aggrieved Smart, however, was the fact that wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman dropped a football near the goal line just as he was crossing it for a 66-yard touchdown. Holloman barely crossed the goal line, but it was the second time this season that potentially premature drops were an issue.

Smart was visibly furious on the sideline during the game. It’s clear he feels his team has a lot to work on, especially if they’re nearly repeating the same mistakes they’ve already made.
